Sky's 3D pub channel will this weekend host the premiere of a 3D film showing David Coulthard driving the Mercedes SLS supercar around the Isle of Man. Click here to see the making of the 3D Merc SLS video.It was shot using a second SLS carrying a brace of 3D camera gear bolted to the back. After Sky's premiere, CAR Online will show the film here this autumn.Sky's 3D channel shows in 3000 pubs (click here to find your nearest pub). HONDA has announced details for a new version of its existing Uni-Cub ‘personal mobility solution’ – essentially a powered office chair. The Uni-Cub β is a development of the initial concept that appeared in 2012 as a bizarre solution to mobility around typical office-based work environments, although it would seem that no one at Honda had considered that humans have legs for that. It uses an omni-directional driving wheel system derived from Honda’s research into humanoid robots like the well-known ASIMO, allowing it to move in any direction according to the weight shifts of its user.
THE GOVERNMENT is to extend the £5,000 grant scheme open to anyone who buys a car with plug-in electric power. It is part of a £500 million move to encourage car owners – and city authorities – to take up the electric car baton and run with it. The initiative will give cities a chance to win government funding to further the sales of electric cars in their areas, for example by allowing them to use bus lanes or park for free.
